Text Box: Wiregrass Medical Center: The Geneva County Hospital, now known as Wiregrass Medical Center, formerly Wiregrass Hospital, was built in July of 1955 under the construction of Conner Brothers Construction Company.  It was built under the Hill-Burton Act with county, and federal government financing.   Plans for the original hospital provided for 32 beds, 8 private rooms, 8 semi private rooms and two 4 bed wards which has grown to 155,000 square feet and 67beds for general and acute care.
