I'm receiving a lot of spam. What can I do?

If you are receiving a lot of spam mail, first make sure that your email account is spam shielded. AlaWeb has software in place that will block the majority of spam sent to your email box but you must have the account set to shielded in order for it to work.
 
If you are not sure if your account is spam shielded, you can check by following the instructions found here.
 
If the email account that is receiving a lot of spam is set to shielded, the cause of the spam is most likely due to a virus or spyware on your computer. Also if you are receiving a lot of popup ads on your computer, this is often caused by spyware on the computer. If you do not have an anti-virus or anti-spyware program installed on your computer, you can find some listed here. Please scan your computer with an up-to-date virus scanner and spyware scanner and clean or delete anything that is found.
 
If the email account is not set to shielded, you will need to select Shielded in order for our spam shield to block spam sent to your email account.
 
Please note that it may take a few days before you can see a difference in the amount of spam you are receiving if you had a virus or spyware on the computer. If you are still receiving spam after following the steps above, you can report it by sending the spam email as an attachment to abuse@alaweb.com.
