After 20 years of teaching in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and moving to a farm in Opp, Alabama, I felt I needed to add a more refined hobby to that of goat herding and gardening. My father was an accomplished artist, particularly in sketching and wood carving. I have always enjoyed all types of craft work.

I began taking oil painting classes four years ago from Carol Phillips at Heritage Gallery in Andalusia, Alabama. My early paintings were mostly rural scenes taken from other people's ideas, and I finally graduated to my own creations.

I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania and I'm very interested in the folk art of the Pennsylvania Dutch. The following paintings are from a series I call "Barns, Buggies, & Antique Things". I have several more in mind for this series.
