Andalusia Animal Shelter Adoptions

If you would like to adopt a dog or cat in need of a loving home, the Andalusia Animal Shelter is a great choice. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is located at the old fairgrounds on Hwy 84 West.

The shelter is operated by the Andalusia Animal Control Unit, a division of the Andalusia Police Department. Adoption fees vary from adult animals to puppies and kittens. Fees range between $20-$30. You can call the shelter at 222-8705.

You can see some of the animals available for adoption at the shelter in Andalusia by clicking here http://www.buyswapsell.com/category.php?type=265 or other nearby shelters local shelters by visiting the petfinder.com web site. These animals don't have very long to find a good home, so please don't hesitate.

The AAHS encourages people to adopt pets from the local shelter and to have those animals properly vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Occasionally, pets who have a home are picked up by animal control. So if your pet is missing, be sure and check with the local shelter.

A variety of dogs and cats come through the shelter each year. Some are pure breeds, some are very young and some are older, but they are all in desperate need of loving homes. Mix breeds tend to be healthier and have better temperaments, but if you are fond of a particular breed, you can call the shelter and tell them what you're looking for and they will contact you if an animal meeting your description is brought in.
