Field Day 2006

This is a page dedicated to the 2006 Field Day Contest.

The dates for this year's contest are June 24th and 25th, 2006.

The ARRL has a website with the rules and other Field Day info.

Object:

To work as many stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter

bands) and in doing so to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions.

A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as well as to

acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio.

Date and Time Period:

Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 1800 UTC Saturday and

ending at 2100 UTC Sunday. Field Day 2006 will be held June 24-25, 2006.

Below is a map showing some of the Field Day 2006 sites in Alabama and NW Florida along with a short description of the Group or Club , location, and other information.

From I-65 get off exit ramp 77. Travel South down Highway 41 aporx 24 miles to the intersection of Hwy 41 and Highway 31 in Downtown Brewton. From the main trafic light in Brewton turn left on Highway 31 and and go North. You will be less than one mile from the site. You will see the Brewton City Park on your left. We will be under the gazebo.

Comments:

We will be operating a 2 meter, 6 meter and HF Stations. We will also operate CW as well as voice.

Solar and battery power. Time 10 am Saturday until dark. No Sunday.

Comments:

We will arrive and set-up starting at 11AM June 24th. And Start QSO's at 1PM. We will operate until around midnight or so and shutdown. NO SUNDAY. The Alabama Department of Homeland Security Region 7 Communications Vehicle will be on Display. There are mens and womens bathrooms. Outdoor lighting and security. We are going to have many Demonstrations including our new Digital VHF/UHF D STAR Radio's, APRS and Satellite. Everyone is welcome. Come out and bring your family and show off Amateur Radio.

Calhoun County Emergency Radio Club (CCERC)

Location: Germania Springs Park just a bit north of Jacksonville, Alabama on Hwy 21 North

Travel approximately ½ - 1 mile. Turn left on Roy Webb Road (first turning lane after you have passed all of the college buildings). Germania Springs Park will be on your right. (You can see the park from Hwy. 21.)

We look forward to the participation of many Hams as well as the EMA and have sent out over 200 invitations to dignitaries and others.

We will be operating with Generator and battery power and have several stations on throughout the whole operation.

Gentlemen, For your information, Cleburne Co. ARES and Turkey Heaven Mountain Repeater Association

are going to hold Field Day operations from the Cleburne Co. EOC.

It is located on Hway 78, 2 miles East of Heflin.

You can't miss the large tower on the left as you go east on 78.

A good time to drop in would be Saturday night around 6PM when we will be having a cook out.
