Brantley zips past Zion Chapel, 38-8
Stephen Walker shows ball after touchdown catch September 13, 2007: Junior split end Stephen Walker had a career game in leading the Brantley Bulldogs to a 38-8 win over the Zion Chapel Rebels in Brantley Thursday night. Walker wasted no time to get the Bulldogs going when he took the opening kickoff and raced 82 yards for the Bulldog's first score with only 14 seconds off the clock. He followed that with 2 touchdown pass receptions from quarterback Chase Hall during the first half to lead the number 2 class 1 A ranked Bulldogs. His touchdowns catches came in the first half and were from 13 yards and 43 yards respectively. The Bulldogs captured their 3rd straight win of the season, and they increased their region streak to 37 wins without a loss. The Bulldogs have won 47 out of their last 48 regular season games. Terrell Burnett added Brantley's second TD of the game on a 19 yard run with 5:46 to go in the first period. Anthony Gulley scored another Bulldog touchdown from 3 yards out in the second quarter to make the score at half time 32-0. On Brantley's first possession in the third period of play, Justin Wright banged it over from 1 yard out with 9:25 to go in the quarter for the Bulldogs final score of the night. At this point Coach David Lowery got some valuable playing time for his younger players. The Rebels refused to quit and with 1:14 to go in the game, Joey Jones ran it in for a touchdown from 3 yards out, and Catlin Carnley ran the two point conversion to make the final score 38-8. The Ariton Purple Cats come to Brantley next Friday night in a big Region 2 match-up.
