Idle Timeout (Dial-Up Only)
In an effort to limit abuse and keep phone lines available for members who are actively using their account, AlaWeb has a 30 minute idle timeout. This means if you have not actively used your account for 30 minutes, the session will be terminated. Sending or receiving email, calling up web pages, and opening a newsgroup are all examples of activity. Should this occur, you are free to immediately dial back in if you are actively using the service.

Session Timeout (Dial-Up Only)
The policy below is in place to protect you, our valued customer. It is not meant to restrict your Internet use. It is simply designed to restrict those who abuse our system.

AlaWeb has a 5 hour session timeout. If you are logged in for more than 5 hours continuously, AlaWeb will terminate the session, even if you have activity. This is a safeguard against abuse and phone lines being "hung" and unavailable to callers. Should this occur, you are free to immediately dial back in if you are actively using the service. Your AlaWeb account entitles you to un-metered, attended, unlimited - but reasonable access to the Internet through our service. If you are attempting to remain logged into our system 24 hours a day, this is not reasonable...and creates busy signals for those who abide by this policy. If you would like to view statistics of your time online, please select here. If you abuse this policy, your account will be terminated without notice.

Multiple Logon Attempts (Dial-Up Only)
Your account allows you 1 concurrent connection on our server at any given time with your username and password. Should our server indicate a multiple logon attempt of the same username and password (at the same time), the attempt will be logged and the connection will not be successful. Numerous and repeated attempts at establishing more than 1 concurrent connection with the same username and password will result in account termination, without notice. If you have given your password to others, you may want to consider having AlaWeb change your password.

Web/FTP Space
You are provided 20 MB of Web/FTP space with your AlaWeb account. Once your account reaches 20MB, you will not be able to write to that account. You will, however, have the ability to delete any excess files. Should you need additional storage space, please contact us via email. Pricing for additional space is $2.00 per MB per month, over and above the initial 20 MB already provided with your account.

Mail Limits
Your mailbox will have a hard quota of 50 MB with any single attachment not to exceed 10MB. What this means is that after your mailbox reaches or exceeds 50 MB of mail on the server, additional messages will not be delivered to your mailbox. The mail will bounce back to the sender with a "mailbox full" error. For the vast majority of users, the quota system will be completely invisible. We believe that these limits will help prevent problems on the mail server, while still allowing a generous amount of "headroom" for unusual mail volumes.

Thank You,
AlaWeb Internet Services
