Tips For Using The South Alabama Birding Guide

I-65 Birding Locations

The I 65 sign on a county page indicates that Interstate 65 passes through the county.

Some of the county pages contain quite a bit of information and may take as long as 25 seconds to load. Most will take less time however. The info is worth a short wait!

SUGGESTIONS FOR PRINTING

The text in the Birding Guide county articles is inserted into a table cell to make it easier to read on your computer screen. This, and other factors such as the navigation bars and pictures, make the pages quite long. If you simply click the printer button you will print items that you don't need and you may be surprised to discover that the "page" is actually 10 sheets of paper long.

To print just the text on the pages try this:

  1. Open your word processer (Word, Works, Wordperfect etc.)

  2. Return to the Birding Guide Page and hold down the left button on the mouse and select the text you want to print.

  3. Place the cursor over the selected text and right click. In the box click "copy".

  4. Move to your word processor and right click on the blank page. In the box click "paste".

  5. The text should flow onto the page ready for editing, printing, or saving to a file.

This procedure works only for IBM compatible computers.

Recommend a Site/Submit An Article

If you know of a good birding location that is in a county listed above, send the name of the location and the county to Charles Kennedy at: saba@alaweb.com We will have one of our writers contact you about taking a tour of the area and preparing an article.

If you would like to write an article for this guide follow these simple guidelines: If the location is a small site write it as a "single stop location". The information should cover, how to get there, a brief description of the habitat, the type of facilities available, and any helpful comments about the location. Refer to the article on Sherling Lake Park  in the Butler County section for a guide.

If the site is large, or consists of several small sites close together, the article should probably be written as a "Birding Trail" article. Contact Charles Kennedy at saba@alaweb.com for more details on this type of article.
